Every new essay goes out by email the day it is published, the whole piece with the images, not a teaser and a link. One email per essay. No digest, no news, no algorithm deciding whether you see it.

This is how the web used to work. You chose the writers, they published from their own sites and each piece came straight to you. Nothing in between decided what deserved your attention. You knew where a piece came from. Social feeds replaced that with a ranking and a small grey byline. Email and RSS never changed. Subscribing here is the older arrangement, coming back around.

Every email has an unsubscribe link. You confirm by email first, so nobody can sign you up but you.

Prefer a feed reader

The same essays, in full, through RSS or JSON Feed. A reader checks this site for you and shows each new piece the moment it is up. RSS is the best of these: no account, no platform, no algorithm, just a site telling your reader what is new.

Either one works. Most readers also find them on their own if you paste the site address.
